{"id":386,"date":"2012-09-09T03:47:10","date_gmt":"2012-09-09T03:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.com\/?p=386"},"modified":"2012-09-09T03:47:10","modified_gmt":"2012-09-09T03:47:10","slug":"21-days-to-go-hugs-and-high-fives-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/?p=386","title":{"rendered":"21 Days to Go: Hugs and High Fives Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_389\" style=\"width: 507px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-389\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-389\" title=\"Thumbs up Reed\" src=\"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed.jpg 3072w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/thumbs-up-reed-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-389\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reed @ Turtles &#8217;07<br \/>Photo taken by Andy Wiersma<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Often our drive to and from school is very revealing about what goes on there.\u00a0 By listening carefully to my kids, I get to hear what is REALLY going on in their world.\u00a0 I\u00a0 laughed out loud at what I heard on Friday&#8217;s drive after the football game.\u00a0 Here is a recap:<\/p>\n<p>S: C, you can\u2019t come up and hug me at lunch anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Mom: (not saying anything, but eyebrows raised)<\/p>\n<p>C: (sadly and way overtired) Whhhhhhyyyyyyy?<\/p>\n<p>S: If you do, then I have a mob of 2<sup>nd<\/sup> graders who want hugs or high-fives.<\/p>\n<p>Entire Stevens clan minus S: (erupts into laughter)<\/p>\n<p>Since I have more than once been described as the Pied Piper of Children, I love that my kiddos have definitely inherited that gene.\u00a0 I\u00a0adore that my kids love younger kids, and they are never too cool to play along.\u00a0 The shared kid-loving gene is often at the heart of our service.<\/p>\n<p>Our family has been serving in the church nursery for a long time.\u00a0 We have had all kinds of fun times with little ones.\u00a0 Earlier, a favorite memory popped into my head\u00a0of Reed and one little boy who thought he was the funniest thing ever.\u00a0Reed would put on puppet shows with the alligator hand puppet for hours.\u00a0 That\u00a0silly\u00a0alligator had some crazy adventures filled with shenanigans and hijinks.\u00a0 Reed doted on his pint-sized buddy.\u00a0 Yet, no matter how hard he tried could he ever get the boy to say, \u201cReed\u201d.\u00a0 Physically he could say it, but he just always called Reed, \u201cGuy\u201d.\u00a0 Every time he would see Reed, he would call out, \u201cHey Guy!\u201d\u00a0 Reed played along and always acted put out.\u00a0 It was adorable.<\/p>\n<p>Any event (big or small)\u00a0planned by our family will always have something for kids to do.\u00a0It is just who Team Stevens is as a group of people.\u00a0 The Reed-A-Cheetah Kids Zone was our best way to make Reed\u2019s Run appealing to the littlest ones.<\/p>\n<p>For a $5 wristband, families get a really good deal on good clean fun.\u00a0 Reed loved inflatables;
