Canvas<br \/>&#8220;Commissioned&#8221; for his Art Show<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When Reed was around 5 years old, I was still teaching tennis.\u00a0\u00a0One year, I helped with the local Marshall Community Services Spring Classes and Tournament with the local college coach.\u00a0 For our kick-off, we had a representative come from the United States Tennis Association for a Free 4 All event.\u00a0 The event is a part of the USTA\u2019s mission to make tennis available to everyone by helping with equipment, instruction, and ENTHUSIASM.<\/p>\n<p>Reed felt the same way about art.\u00a0 He felt that everyone regardless of age should have an opportunity to create and to express their world through art mediums.\u00a0 For years, we would faithfully drive our kids to Sioux Falls once a month so that they could participate in the arts programs at the Washington Pavilion.\u00a0 They loved it.\u00a0 On one of our trips back, Reed wondered what it would be like if every kid could experience art lessons and have a place to display their art.<\/p>\n<p>I started asking\u00a0at local art and children\u2019s organizations, and while most liked the idea, none really put forth much of an effort toward what Reed envisioned.\u00a0 He finally decided to take matters into his own sweet hands.\u00a0 With the support of Mom, Dad, and his beloved art teacher, Mrs. Schueler, Reed applied for and was awarded a grant to hosting an art show with art lessons too!\u00a0 He was the ripe age of 8 years old.\u00a0 The day was a success with the entire event free to all who attended. \u00a0Reed wanted art to be a past-time available to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping that sweet memory in mind, we have added a new component to our Reed-A-Cheetah Kids Zone this year.\u00a0 Yes, there will be several art projects available for kids to create.\u00a0 We know with certainty that Reed would give two thumbs up at an ART-4-ALL event!<\/p>\n<p>No matter how big or small, God&#8217;s creations are always masterpieces!\u00a0 Just like we have any of our children&#8217;s artwork on the walls, God has our pictures all over his &#8220;refrigerator&#8221;!<\/p>\n<p>Special Note: The art projects are a part of the $5 wristband price.\u00a0 St. Mary\u2019s Youth Group of Cottonwood will be manning the stations.\u00a0 They are also doing a small fundraiser.\u00a0 They will have \u201cI (heart) Jesus\u201d bracelets available for purchase.\u00a0 The funds will be used to help pay for their upcoming NCYC youth trip.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Reed was around 5 years old, I was still teaching tennis.\u00a0\u00a0One year, I helped with the local Marshall Community Services Spring Classes and Tournament with the local college coach.\u00a0 For our kick-off, we had a representative come from the United States Tennis Association for a Free 4 All event.\u00a0 The event is a part [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2],"tags":[42,101,333,526,618,650],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/452"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=452"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/452\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=452"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=452"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=452"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
