{"id":732,"date":"2013-03-06T01:04:05","date_gmt":"2013-03-06T01:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.com\/?p=732"},"modified":"2013-03-06T01:04:05","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T01:04:05","slug":"wheres-my-bat-signal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/?p=732","title":{"rendered":"Where&#8217;s my Bat signal?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A while back, I received a call from a dear friend who needed some help.\u00a0 The request was one that I accepted realizing that it was going to be a stretch for me to pull it off.\u00a0 In my heart though, I knew other friends would have my back (or in this case, neck).<\/p>\n<p>The request was simple.\u00a0 My friend (who is a preschool teacher) was looking for someone to make 8 little scarves in two weeks for her students to receive as gifts during their study of winter weather.\u00a0 The catch: they needed to be knit or crocheted.\u00a0There was a book that she would be reading as a culmination of the unit, and the scarves would be a part of that story.<\/p>\n<p>I hung up the phone, and then, thought what in the world did I just say I would do.\u00a0 (That type of behavior is my own curse, and fodder for a whole different blog.) Without hesitation, I went to my version of the Bat-signal.\u00a0 Batman had his alert method, and I have mine.\u00a0 Formerly, it was CaringBridge but now it is Facebook.\u00a0 As fast as my fingers could fly, I posted my friend\u2019s request and asked for help.\u00a0 I pledged to\u00a0create two, but I explained I could use some extra hands and needles\/hooks for the remaining six. Within eight hours, all eight were spoken for. And within a week and half, all were delivered into the hands of\u00a0some\u00a0little preschoolers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/scarves.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-733\" alt=\"scarves\" src=\"http:\/\/kandynolesstevens.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/scarves.jpg\" width=\"497\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/scarves.jpg 2592w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/scarves-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/scarves-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.realsweetgrace.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/scarves-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I never really doubted that they would be, but what amazed me was a comment that another \u201cfriend\u201d posted. I should clarify our friendship status.\u00a0 We \u201cmet\u201d making a transaction online, and the necessity of that business deal required us to befriend each other.\u00a0 Once we did, we discovered we had some similar interests and thus an online\u00a0friendship formed.\u00a0 We\u2019ve never actually met one another in person.<\/p>\n<p>Yet in the midst of my friends chiming in that they were on it, this gal\u2019s comments stopped me in my tracks.\u00a0 Sometimes especially when I encounter lemons or changes in plans, I forget just how blessed that I really am.\u00a0 The comment while simple summed it up perfectly.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><i>Kandy, even though we have never met, you must have the most amazing friends.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>She was right, and I knew it.\u00a0 Many times those same sweet friends have come to my rescue for all kinds of things including some of my doing. \u00a0I don\u2019t live anywhere remotely close to my family at all, and most of my husband\u2019s family is fairly far away as well.\u00a0 Sometimes I don\u2019t even have to ask for the help,\u00a0my friends just know when to call, text, or show up.\u00a0 Somehow they get God\u2019s gentle prompting that I need them.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>Proverbs 20:6<\/b><br \/>\n<i>Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?<\/i> (NLT)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Thankfully, in my case, the answer to that question is \u201cI can\u201d many times over.\u00a0 Today, I\u2019m counting each and every one of those blessings, knowing I probably never needed that Bat-signal anyways!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A while back, I received a call from a dear friend who needed some help.\u00a0 The request was one that I accepted realizing that it was going to be a stretch for me to pull it off.\u00a0 In my heart though, I knew other friends would have my back (or in this case, neck).
